Sophie Carrington

Birmingham based British artist Sophie Carrington is currently in her final year studying Fine Art at Birmingham School of Art, Birmingham City University.

She is interested in the everyday and has a fascination with the media and celebrity culture. Her work is made from an outsider perspective and is focussed on current affairs.

Sophie is interested in the bombardment of imagery through magazines, social media sites and television and for the past three years has made this the basis of her work. With a passion for Pop art and inspired by street artists, she is interested in creating vibrant, colourful, large-scale pieces whilst conveying the message of over-consumption and obsession.

Sophie's exploration and analysis of these themes are portrayed through her stencilling techniques, painting and embroidery.

Layering has also been a key feature in her work.
